Another night market I find myself going a lot is the Shida Night Market (師大夜市). Compared to the other night markets, there are less food stands but it's a great night market for the ladies who love to shop! The limited number of food stand doesn't mean the food here is bad. In fact, quite the contrary in my opinion.
As the name suggests, this night market is very close to the University and just a 5 minute walk from the subway station. Unlike the other night markets, there are also more university students (i.e. pretty girls) here than anywhere else. The location is also quite convenient. It's about a 8-10 minute walk from the subway station. Two of the more popular stalls are the Shi Yun serving Taiwanese fried chicken (I actually loved the deep fried mushrooms more) and Lantern serving Taiwanese marinates.
Aside from the above two, I also like to pick up some handmade buns from Yong Fung Sheng on the way to the subway. As you can see, there is almost always a line.
However, my main objective for coming to Shida Night Market is the shops. There is this beauty shop just off the main road (there is a Lantern shop at the corner) which I visit every time. They carry a lot of the local and Korean/Japanese cosmetic brands and the products are always sold at a discount (it's near a University, remember?) I always come out with something :)
