The place is massive even though it was only half of its original size. (It's good to be a prince in ancient China... especially when you are born to a generous and rich Emperor...) Although the truth behind the ascension to the throne of Emperor Yongzheng will forever remain a mystery, he is a good Emperor, which is what all peasants care about. Likewise, I am very thankful to our first Prime Minister Zhou Enlai. If not for him, this amazing architecture would have been long lost in the midst of the Cultural Revolution...
