Hotel Double One (倆人旅館)

I want to switch gears and tell you about a hotel I stayed in Xin Beitou last February 2014.  Again, apologize for the untimely update but if you follow me on Instagram (@letstalkfoodandetc), you will know I have been quite busy these days... hahaha!

Hotel Double One is a nice boutique hotels located in Xin Beitou.  It's a hotel with hot springs connected to the tubs in the room.  If you are expecting outdoor onsens or big bath areas like you find in the onsen ryokans in Japan, you will be disappointed.  But if you are looking for privacy in your own room with authentic sulfur water to fill your bath, this is where you can consider for your next trip.

The hotel offers a complimentary pick up and drop off service to and from the Xin Beitou station.  If you are coming with luggage, I sincerely recommend you to take the service as the hotel is located halfway up a hill.  However, expect a delay for pick up as traffic can be bad especially on weekends.  If you are coming back from dinner at night either from Tamsui (淡水) or Shilin (士林), I also recommend you to take a taxi directly from the Beitou station instead of changing to the Xinbeitou MRT.  I forgot the exact fare but it was quite affordable.

We went there around Chinese New Year / Valentine's Day so the hotel was fully booked.  If you are interested in coming here around those times, I would suggest you to make your reservations early.

I was a little disappointed that Hotel Double One does not have a public bath within its premises.  Other than that, service was attentive and the room was comfortable.  Our price also includes a buffet breakfast for two.  Nothing fancy is served but it's always nice to have a breakfast option.

We got one of their largest rooms and it was roomy and spacious.  The room is well equipped too.  Not only it has an in-room hot spring bath tub, it also has a rain shower and a sauna room.  There is definitely enough to keep you busy in the room all day.

It would have been perfect if the room has a better view though.  I honestly don't feel comfortable leaving the blinds open and it gets boring very quickly with the blinds down.
Overall, if you are planning your next trip to Beitou, this could be a good hotel option for you.
