Nevertheless, I do visit casinos a lot... they are everywhere in Macau, opens 24/7, and are the destination for good food, concerts, events, and nice decorations. They are definitely the places to go when you want to meet with friends during peak holiday season and avoid holiday surcharges. (Casinos are the only places that do not charge extra during holidays since it's obvious that F&B revenue is not their bread and butter.)
Consequently, on Christmas Day, I met with some friends at MGM Macau for afternoon tea at MGM Patisserie. The line is long, which is expected but the food is good and affordable. The bill for 5 people came out to be around MOP550 (already includes the 10% service charge, we could have gotten a 10% discount too if I had remember to bring my Golden Lion card.) See my separate blog post here.
Tip: I highly recommend the membership cards at the casinos even if you don't gamble as they offer you good discounts at the casinos' restaurants.
I might seem like I am partial to MGM but I do think they have the best Christmas decorations this year. The theme is Nutcracker and they have Santa running around passing out presents to children and musicians playing Christmas carols in the pavilion. They also have staff dressed as snowman and Christmas trees walking around taking pictures with guests.
at a glance, we thought she was Santa's little helper... then we saw the camera... hehe... |
I wonder where they store the props after the holiday is over... and more importantly, the leftover gingerbread cookies... :P
