MGM Patisserie

I was at MGM earlier last month to check out their Xmas decoration "A Christmas Tale" and I saw this cupcake set promotion outside of MGM Patisserie.   The pastries look good so when my friends mentioned a Xmas gathering, I suggested to come come here for afternoon tea.  Unfortunately, this set was not available on the day (not sure if it was because of Xmas or if it was a limited time offer).

Instead, we ordered a tea set for two, a fresh berries waffle, and a buffalo mozzarella and tomato pizza.  Click here for the full menu.  They are the only cafe in Macau I am aware of that serves tea from Mariage Frères.  Marco Polo is Mariage Frères most famous blend so if you have never try their tea before, give it a try.  My friend prefers the Sur Le Nil more, which is equally tasty, especially if you are a green tea lover.

Nevertheless, the service was disappointing.  The server brought us our waffle before the pizza and the waffle came with a scoop of ice-cream.  Needless to say, when we were ready for the waffle, the ice cream has already melted.  I truly wish that the service standards will improve the next time I visit, which I doubted, as I had another incident at Rossio the other night.

With less and less young people entering the F&B industry, I am really not sure how all these casinos can keep up with the increasing demand.   Until we have a healthy supply for "fresh blood" in the F&B and hospitality industry, call me pessimistic but I just don't see how Macau can become Asia's hub for world class resort and entertainment when we rely so heavily on foreign workers.
