North (北方館)

North is one of my favorite places to go for lunch on a weekday.  It's within walking distance from my office, their noodles is one of the best in Macau at very reasonable prices, and best of all, I love the interior design of this restaurant.

I love sitting at the bar and watch the chef making noodles.
They made everything look so easy and effortless.

Here's a quick introduction of the restaurant from the official website:
“North” features traditional cuisines from the Dongbei and Sichuan regions of China. Featuring live preparation and cooking of noodles, dumplings and steamed items, dishes will be prepared by authentic Chefs specifically from Northeast China.
North reminds me of the long forgotten days when I used to walk all the way to Yindo Hotel in Zhuhai (珠海銀都酒店) for some good quality dumplings.  Sometimes I think I must be a northerner in my previous life.  I love dumplings so much I can eat them everyday. (In fact, I just had dumplings for dinner last night and will be having them again for lunch today.)

Everything from their menu that I have tried is delicious.  Below are a list of things I have tried and love:

Marinated “Dongbei” Wood Fungus with Aged Vinegar (老醋木耳)

Marinated Beef Shank and Tripe with Spicy Sichuan Dressing (夫妻肺片)

Slow Poached Caramelized Lotus Root Stuffed with Black Glutinous Rice in Osmanthus Sauce (桂花糯米藕)
Poached Pork Belly with Cucumber, Leeks and Garlic Sauce (掛桿蒜泥白切肉)
Poached Chicken in Chinese Yellow Wine (石庫門醉雞)
Grilled Lamb Skewers with Chilli and Cumin (碳燒孜然羊肉串)
Pick your favorite: one noodle, one soup base, and one topping. (北方面)
Dumplings (水餃)
Fried Banana or Sweet Potatoes with Pulled Sugar (拔絲香蕉/紅薯) - my friend loves banana but I prefer sweet potatoes :)

I am not a big fan of chicken but this has to be one of the best drunken chicken I ever had.

Traditional “La Mian” / Beef Soup / “Shanxi” Braised Beef Brisket

I highly recommend you to try all the different types of noodles.  I have yet to be able to pick a favorite.
For toppings, I also like the Tomato and Egg Sauce and the Slow Cooked Eggplany in Spicy Bean Paste Sauce.

When it comes to dumplings, I am the most picky with the wrappings.
I don't eat anything that is not handmade... lol
This one is chewy like it should and authentic northern style!
Remember to present your Sands Rewards Club card for a discount.  If you don't have one, apply for one (free) at the casino.  In addition to the Venetian location, North is also opened at Sands Cotai Central (金沙城中心).  I haven't been to the SCC location yet but I think they offered a slightly smaller menu.
