Chasing Sakura - Japan (4) - Kanazawa

We woke up early and went to the JR Kyoto Station to catch the Thunderbird to Kanazawa.  The ticket is expensive (JPY6,200) but it is the fastest way to get to Kanazawa.  The line was long at the ticket office so we missed the train we original planned to get on.  Luckily, the schedule is quite frequent so we didn't have to wait too long at the station.

Breakfast time!

We stayed at Guesthouse Pongyi for the 2 nights we were in Kanazawa.  Pongyi is a lovely guesthouse only 15 minutes away by walk from the JR Kanazawa station.  The owner and staff are very friendly.  We even joined the hanami party.  Originally, the party was supposed to be hosted at the park but since it was raining, the party was moved indoors.  We had a great time eating and drinking nonetheless.

We also experienced the kimono wearing in Kanazawa.  You could blame it on the poor weather but we didn't have a good experience.  Since it might be an isolated incident, I am not going to say where we went.  Nevertheless, make sure you ask in detail what the experience entails.  I would suggest not doing it at all when the weather is bad.

Because of the bad weather, we were unable to go to all the places as planned.  The places we ended up going were Omicho Ichiba (近江町市場), 21st Century Museum (21世紀美術館), and Kenrokuen (兼六園).  Isn't it sad?  Oh well, it just gives me an excuse to come back next time :)  Here are some random snapshots taken in Kanazawa that I can't fit anywhere else~
